  1. 1.Tune the NAV radio to 117.40 MHz for LIV.
  2. 2.Press IDENT and confirm the Morse code L·I·V (·–·· ·· ···–).
  3. 3.Test the CDI: rotate OBS 10° left and 10° right — the needle should swing.
  4. 4.Rotate OBS until the CDI needle is centered and the flag reads TO. That's your inbound course.A centered needle with TO means the OBS value equals the course direct to the station from your present position. That's the heading you'll want to fly to home in.
  5. 5.Set the heading bug to match your inbound course.Matching the bug to the inbound course gives you a visual target on the heading indicator, so you can fly the course without staring at the OBS the whole time.
  6. 6.Follow the heading bug — the aircraft will turn onto it.
  7. 7.Keep the CDI needle in the middle until you cross the station.
