  1. 1.Tune the NAV radio to 117.40 MHz for LIV.
  2. 2.Press IDENT and listen for L·I·V in Morse code (·–·· ·· ···–).
  3. 3.Test the CDI: rotate OBS 10° left and 10° right and watch the needle move.
  4. 4.ATC assigned the 091° radial. Set OBS to 271° (inbound course).OBS is set to the course you want to fly, not the radial itself. Flying inbound to the station means the reciprocal of the assigned radial — 091° + 180° = 271°. That puts the CDI into TO mode and centers it once you're established on that inbound course.
  5. 5.Turn to an intercept heading about 30–45° off 271° using the heading bug.A 30–45° cut into the inbound course gives you enough angle to close on the radial without overshooting. Any less and you'll drift for miles; any more and the CDI will slam past centre before you can turn.
  6. 6.As the CDI needle comes alive, turn to keep it centered inbound (TO).
  7. 7.Hold the needle within 2 dots for 10 seconds to complete the intercept.
